Sky plus box problems
After two weeks the box froze. You could not turn it on it was stuck on the red light. Apparently it had fused. To be fair Sky replaced it in days.
I've had a new box just over a week and things seem OK but the box is turning itself off if it is not being used for any length of period. In other words going on to standby
Is this a feature on the box? Does anyone have experience of this? many thanks

Re: Sky plus box problems
Yes it's a energy saving thing. The box switches itself off after a certain time has elapsed. It's a part of Sky's green initiative apparentely.

Re: Sky plus box problems
I'd disable the stanby feature though. It may be a green initiative, but this can lead to problems.

Re: Sky plus box problems
Just so you know how to disable it.
- Press the Services button on your Sky remote.
- Press 5 for Sky+ Setup.
- Push up twice to highlight Auto Standby.
- Push left (or right) once to change ON to OFF.
- Push down once to highlight Save New Settings and press Select.
- Push the Sky button to return to whatever you were watching.
