      Sky + and Sony RDR-HXD970 ?

Hi anyone out there with any advice?

I'm getting sky + but only down a single cable so I will only be able to record a programme I am watching - is that correct?

So I was thinking of buying the Sony RDR-HXD970 DVD recorder with hard drive. Does anybody know if I would be able to set this particular recorder to record Sky when I'm out or away. Are they compatible?

The reason I'm getting Sky + is because there may be a possibility of upgrading the cable from our communal dish sooner or later.

      thanks

      hi there,

not sure about the 1 LNB but do not see why it would not work.
as to the dvd recorder, if sky plus does work you would not need it, when away you can set series links or use 7 day planner (as long as no clash of times)

i bought an all singing and dancing JCV dvd recorder and surround sound and since having sky plus have not used at all !

i also now watch more tv than i used to but watch it in around the same time as i can forward the adverts

      P.S

there is a facility to record a programe from the sky plus to tape or dvd, only you have to watch while recording !

ok if you have something that you realy want to keep

only saying this in case you only get a DVD player and not recorder

good luck with the install next week, hope all goes well (also hope you get to have the 2 lines from dish in the end, once you have this you will wonder what you did before sky plus !!)

      Re: Sky + and Sony RDR-HXD970 ?

If you get the record feature activated on your Sky+ box, if you want to record just change the f plug over to the second input and then you can turn the sky+ box off and record a programe while you are out but after recording when you return don't forget to swap F Plug back. I work for a Sony Centre and yes the RDRHXD970 is compatible with Sky+ just use a second scart from the Sky+ box to line 3 on the dvd recorder, you can set up a manual record. Hope that helps.
