      Purchasing Sky Plus

Hi all. I want to buy sky +. I currently have normal sky, and have had it for just under a year. Should I buy one off ebay? To be honest I don't really want to spend that much, I'm kind of low on money at the moment. I don't want an old version box. Also I don't want a small size hard drive. If it's cheaper, I don't mind replacing the hard drive myself. eBay maybe? Or Sky direct?

      Please help if you can.
      Kieron

Call Sky and ask to talk to "Turnaround" (also known as cancellations). Their staff are authorised to offer you Sky+ with box and installation for 49.00 all-in.

Tell them various friends have had this offer.

Mine was installed on Aug. 9th at 49.00 total cost. No hassle, I just asked as above. I also was on Sky Basic Box at the time and now have a brand new Thomson PVR3 with the full sized hard drive.

Thanks for the reply Jennifer, just wondering, as my 12 months isn't up, can I still do this?

There's no harm in trying - and your contract ends soon in any case.

      Re: Mrs

I tried today and they told me to contact sales. So I call, ask to speak to cancellations, then when I speak to them, what should I say? Sorry to be a bit of a twit but I want to make sure I know what exactly to say. If its 50, I'm happy to pay right now.

Try telling Turnaround that you are thinking of changing to Virgin Media and that your friend had Sky+ installed for 49.00 all in.

Say that an offer like that would keep you as a customer.

It depends what package you are on at the moment - if, say, you were on the full package with sports and films, you could threaten to cancel them instead and still bargain for the Sky+ for 49.00.

The 49.00 offer has been well publicised on these forums and Digital Spy - including my own exprience. I see your post on DS so you should have all the info. If you are soon out of contract the method should work.

If not - eMail allcustomercareescalation@bskyb.com and tell them you want the same deal as your neighbour's.

Thanks for the replies again, but as I'm not finished on my 12 months "contract", I cant really "threaten to cancel" can I as I will have to pay them for the remaining months...can I?

Yes I know you are in contract but you said it was just under a year. In any case Sky know they will get your payment for the full year so why not offer the deal to you now? I am aware of many people who have taken this deal and one that was on contract and moving house.
