Please tell me if this is normal.

No one responded to my earlier post about the fan running continuously when the Sky+ box is in standby - should it? Mine does, but not if it switches to standby after finishing recording.

Have you changed the hard drive in the unit at all?

If you haven't, then the fan will come on whenever it needs to (standby or other).

If you have changed the hard drive, then the software sets the fan to be on permanent.

      Thanks Red...
No I haven't changed the hard drive - it was a new Amstrad unit 10 days ago.
I've decided to turn it off at the mains when not being used.
If the fan operates when it's in standby, presumably, this is because it needs cooling.
This seems real bad design - no wonder the world's getting warmer

I've previously never bought anything by Amstrad - deliberately.
Didn't get a choice here - looks like my opinion is well founded.
      Regards

I believe the software is the same on all units Amstrad or otherwise. At least they have improved from the very early units where they didn't have a fan at all, and use to run red hot and pack up after about 18 month's usually with the power supply going bang.
