      Sky Functionality

This goes for normal sky aswell as plus, but does it annoy anyone appart from me, that when you use the up and down arrows while watching something to see what is on another channel, or you just see what is on that channel at a different time, you cannot press the I button to see the information, you have to go to the planner?
It annoys the hell outa me!

      Re: Sky Functionality

yes it is annoying, but it's not possible with effectively building the whole EPG into the search and scan banner.

The EPG is a channel in itself and therefore it's not really feasible. Try recording 2 programs at teh same time, then go to the EPG and try and press the i button and it wont work cos you are already using 2 feeds!!

yeah thats true, but it cant be THAT hard to do it, because you can press I on the current channel+program, so i see no reason why you couldnt on another/at a later time!

      Re: Sky Functionality

yes but the current program you are watching is the stream that is carrying the i details for that program!

Remember it is the transmitting broadcaster that sends the i information with the stream which is why it is effectively (well actually is) a seperate feed in the EPG as it has to collate is all and put it into a feed.

      Re: Sky Functionality

... technically they could do it, but it would only ever work if you were not recording anything else (ie you were just using teh 1 feed).

As the whole point of sky+ is to record whilst watching something else means it would be a pretty redundant feature to build.

      hope that makes sense.

      Re: Sky Functionality

... and because the 'i' info is a seperate feed, that is why it can never be done on standard sky boxes as they only have the 1 feed.

      Re: Sky Functionality

totally agree it's silly, but that's the way its been built so its pretty much a non-starter unless they add software which downloads the next 7 hrs EPG data onto the hard drive so that its not using a feed.

      Re: Sky Functionality

surely the info required for a second EPG could be kept somewhere in all that spare 'ANYTIME' area on the hard disk ???
