We have these every so often, But havent bothered giving them out, as
      a) Most of them are on Sky
      b) They are believed to be Refurbs and if they mess up, They are stuck for 12 Months.
Can anyone advise if the boxes are new or Refurbs? I think the Refurb comes with 12 month warranty, but don't want it going wrong all the time, also might be an old version?

      Thanks

      Steve

      Re: Free Sky+ Box

I Hadn't read all of pythons post:-

I'm now on the 21 a month package with free, brand new (apparently) Sky+ box for a minimum of 12 months and it cost me 40 for the one off activation fee, it's being installed next week. Good times!
What happens about the subscription charge for Sky +, tis is stopping 1st July.
I suppose I could defer my install until after 1st July.

*sigh* wish this deal was on before, i've been a sky customer for about two months now and i would be able to forgive the extremely crappy broadband service i am receiving from them if i had free sky+!

      Hi,

I would just ike to thank you for posting this offer.
I have grabed this with both hands and i know its not great but i am going to move my bradband over aswell when i get my MAC from Pipex. This will then save me money.

      thanks again.

      Re: Free Sky+ Box

      I think/hope I have a deal to beat this.

I've been having problems galore with freeview through my aerial lately. I live in flats and the aerial contractors were round. I asked about Sky+. They said they can get me a deal where I get the 21 package for 10.50 for 12-months, a Sky+ box for 49, standard install at 60. In order to do this, they have to pass my details onto Sky and I then have to wait for Sky to call me.

If my sums are right, the deal Murdock has posted costs 292 over the year:

      12 x 21 = 252

      + 40 connection fee

      = 292

      Mine would be:

      12 x 10.50 = 126

      + 49 Sky+ box

      + 60 install

      = 235

      Both are great deals.

I can confirm that the SKY+1AF code is a generic code, not individual to each user. I know this as I've just phoned to order this before the 17th June cut-off date, just in case the other deal doesn't transpire. I didn't even have to give a name of a friend!!! No mention of a 40 fee though? Also, I was told it's a brand new box, not a 'grade A' refurb jobby.

      THANKS MURDOCK

Along with this, my broadband supplier has agreed to drop my rock-solid 6-7meg connection from 30 to 15 a month, this including 11 line rental. So my broadband is basically 4 a month. This was because I told them I was switching to Sky broadband.

Wonder if they use the correct antenna for your area or just a generic "WideBand" one

I live in London and found a Band "A" Antenna gives 4 times stronger signal then a wideband of the same size.

      Re: Free Sky+ Box

I was down town (Harlow, Essex) and there is a Sky Sales booth there with this offer, nothing about having to have a friend that has Sky, but I have already signed up, but was interesting to see it.
Bet now that i have signed up that come 1st July there will be some good offers, I reckon it will be free Sky+ box as standard now (this is only my opinion), and I wouldn't be surprised if they threw in 3 months half price or something, but had to sign up when I did just in case..

Actually there are rumours on other forums which state that the Sky+ box is going to be the new standard box and its going to be installed free. Although I reckon the Standard box will still be used for places where Sky+ is not possible such as flats with single feed cables.
