Re: Sky+ and multiroom
This question is asked many times.
Yes you can buy off of ebay but you will need to phone sky to have a new card ordered and paired with the sky + box. You will also have to do quite a bit of wiring yourself.
It will include running a new cable to the new room and running an additional feed to the place where the sky + box will go - it needs to satelitte cables. On top of that you will have to replace the single LNB with a quad without knocking the dish out of alignment. Another point to note is that the quad weighs more and can pull the dish down, meaning that you have to re-align it. Did I mention that the quads come in two different shapes, depending on the dish you have.
I think it is worth paying £99 for a new box and having sky install it free of charge if you take out multiroom. The only down point is the 12 month contract. (That is assuming the deal is still on!)

Re: Sky+ and multiroom
Hi there, I have a similar question to gareth824, I have just had sky installed, sky plus downstairs and a standard multiroom upstairs, but I have a friend moving in and he has a sky plus box already, I tried to get the standard box card to work in it, but no luck, what should I do, do I need another card or should sky just be able to pair it up the mutliroom card with my mates sky+ box? also would i need to pay any more? i'm paying £43.50 + £10(£53.50) multiroom at moment? Also I got the sky bloke to install to seperate lines into both rooms so the sky+ think has the right number of cables. thanks Harv

Re: Sky+ and multiroom
This is the correct amount of cables.
Your card will not work in the Sky + box as it is not paired to it. You should be able to phone sky up and they will pair it at the multiroom rate of £10.
I am unsure if SKY+ subs (which will be free soon) will be applicable as you have two sky + boxes.------
Advice given is in good faith and if taken is done so at your own risk. If in doubt consult a qualified person.

Re: Sky+ and multiroom
Quick Update
Sky + is £99 and install is free if you also take multiroom.. £120 otherwise
Subs are free on sky + if you have a premium service - and multiroom is £10 a month
If you dont have moveis or sports it's cool as they are ditching it 1st july as you know
the £49 multiroom is to have 2 standard boxes - not a sky+ one
