Pair problem / used box

If the OP bought the Sky+ box via Paypal, he should take it up with them because the Sky box was effectively stolen.

I don't think legitimate independent sellers are going to be happy with that. Are Sky actually saying if you don't buy the box from them, they will not activate it?

I'd be interested to know if that is the case, because I've been intending to have another go at getting a Sky+ box off ebay, to replace the knackered standard sky box I have.

A lot of perfectly good Sky boxes are going to end up in landfill if it is true, not very environmentally friendly.

When did you buy/pair it? This seems to be a pretty new reg, if it is true.

No they're not saying that at all, basically if it's a brand new box then there is no problem. How ever if it is a 2nd hand box then whether it is under contract or not we cannot pair it.

I'd be tempted to call again and see what happens.

If they refuse to pair it once more, ask specifically why and to follow it up by putting it in writing.

So someone who pays Sky nearly £300 for a new box cannot sell on or even give away their old box, even though, according to the T & Cs, it is their property? This seems to be a draconian attitude

I wonder whether if someone keeps the old one as a spare, if they would even allow them to pair their card with their old box, if their new one packs up?

There are over 400 used Sky HD boxes on eBay at the moment, are they going to be useless to the purchaser?
