Question Upgrading - keeping old box?

Hello,I like many others who have asked here have an old sky+ non HD box
(which went off tonight, its working again now) but while it was off I dragged out of the cupboard a sky+HD box that I got off of Freegle.

This seems to work fine, I have reset it & cleared all the old recordings and I know that I need to ring Sky to pair it to the new box in order to record the encrypted channels.

Before I do that though I am wondering if once I pair it - will I later on be able to take the card & lug it into the old box & use it?

Thinking mainly about being able to watch what is currently recorded on it, also being able to use the old box upstairs by swapping the card around?

Only being able to use 1 at once because of 1 card... will this work?

      Thank you,
      Matty

P.S. anyone know where I can obtain a new flap for the front?

Putting the old one back on before Candleford comes on lol

Re: Upgrading - keeping old box?

Once you have paired the card to the replacement receiver, it will no longer work in the original for the PVR or subscription channels so you should watch anything you want to on it before you do this.

You could keep switching the cards around but Sky will quickly get fed up re-pairing everytime you want to go upstairs etc.

The receiver will continue to work as a Freesat receiver without the card but the only way to get the two receivers working properly would be to subscribe to multiroom at 10 per month.

OK, I guess it will be a while before I change over then.
