Sky+ card causing problems??

My Sky+ keeps going wrong in that every morning and every evening I have to wait for it to come on although I put it into standby before going to bed and leaving for work. It just will not come out of standby for at leat 5 to 10 minutes.

However, last Wednesday the card got screwed up and the machine could not read it. I rang sky and they are sending me a new card. Meanwhile I am just watching the FTA channels.

What is really odd is that the Sky+ box has not gone wrong since it could not read the card. It comes straight on every morning and evening and on the channel it was on when I put it to standby.

Could someone please explain why?

Is there software on the card that is causing the problem with Sky+ boxes?

The sky card will not cause your box problems, its just a card carrying information on the channels you should receive.

If your box is running slowly and taking a while to come on you might want to try a planner rebuild to clean up the hardive - It doesnt delete anything but should improve box performance.

Instructions -

Press Services

Select - System Setup

Type in 0 0 1 and then select button

Select Planner Rebuild

Read the message then select to continue

'housekeeping please wait' will appear

Box will turn on to standby

Give it 60 seconds and then turn the box back on

Should resolve it.
