Help with card
Hello to everybody.
I do not know if what am going to ask is legal or not, but I just need some help.
I live in Spain an for 2 years I have been a subscriber to Sky through a dealer operating here in Spain. I have an Irish card, so I pay in euros which is very expensive now compared with the British Pound. This dealer has been charging me for everything and is asking me a lot of money for re-newing the card for another year. She gave me a solution: get a a friend's address in the UK and he will receive the card and only has to send it to somebody in the UK to activate it. She says is completely normal and safe because each address can have up to 5 subscribers. The problem is I do not have any friend with a permanent address in the UK, that's because I am asking for some help from here. The monthly charge I will do it through my visa card, as I have been going it til today.
Probably I am asking for too much, but I am tired of wasting money on these 'comissions'.
Sorry for my broken English.
Thanks a lot to everybody.
Jose

Re: Help with card
if this is a standard sky box it will be ok to not pair it
i thinks its only sky+ and sky+hd boxes that would need to be paired to a box in the uk
i have riends who use sky standard boxes and take their card to france and use it no problem in a second box at their friends holiday home

Re: Help with card
To use any card for subscription channels it must be paired to the receiver it is used in. It will continue to work for the FTA channels without being paired, even in the Sky+ and SkyHD receivers.

Re: Help with card
The one you currently have is paired but a new one won't be. It would have to be done again when it arrives.
As Sky are due to replace ALL the Sky cards soon, there will be lots of people who are overseas all trying to do the same thing.

Re: Help with card
By asking someone to do that you are asking them to break the law, this should not be encouraged on a forum such as this.
If you want to do it then that's up to you but don't bring others into your scheme.

Re: Help with card
To Smithy99: I am not ecouraging anybody to break the law.
Thousands of people abroad are dealing with 'dealers' who sell these cards and are making lot of money just taking the adventage that the victims don't have a permanent address in the UK. It is that what I want to avoid, so , instead of saying 'that' to me think that I am protecting people from such kind of practice.
I write here because it says is an 'unofficial suport forum'.
