If its any consolation, I do believe the increase for Sky BB is unfair for existing customers who are not eligible for the credit.

To be honest I would have thought you to Newsreader-2 would have seriously benefited from the saving here I am asking for its about 151.00 per year you would be better off! As many housholds would at present. If sky can offer this service a this cost should it not be for all. Obviously the free sky+ box and maintence maybe an offer sky offers to new customers if its indead has done it for all which i doubt.

Maybe I would, but anyone in business, cannot afford to give such an amount away for free. All that would happen is another product would have to be increased to cover the cost of it.

I work for myself, and if a customer said to me "Give me 151 discount or I will go elsewhere" and there was absolutely no margin for that discount to be given, then unfortunately, I would have to let them go elsewhere. It would be commercial suicide to lose money on every customer that called your bluff.

There is nothing wrong with your point of view, however, that's what happens in business, there is always a better deal, if you are a new customer.

Re: Am very fed up with skys unfair pricing

I haven't voted as the appropriate option isn't there.

I am happy with what I pay and the discounts I had as a brand new customer best part of 10 years ago to Sky Digital.

I won't be leaving at this stage as sky offer ME value for money (thats 46pm for the TV pkus 10pm for HD plus 10 pn for BB)

Re: Am very fed up with skys unfair pricing

How much does Sky get charged for an instalation and free box by its manufacturers and installers. I bet its more than 150 per year per customer. If you believe the threads typed on here where for every one person who is lost there is there to four new ones

I am wondering if all the moderators are paid to much that they could afford 151.00 a year without batting an eye it seems

Probably need to have a look at Sky's last financial report for that info. It's freely available on their corporate website.

If I can save 151 a year I would, but I accept that business is business and Sky will give far better deals to entice new long term customers.

Such is life, every company does exactly the same.

This really don't make a valid argument.

Using your figure of 150 for the box, an average install would be say 30 (and that is probably too cheap) Basic subscription of 17 per month would probably physically cost about 10 to buy the programming and staff overheads, all adds up to:

      Expenditure

      150.00 + 30.00 + 120.00 (cost of programming and staff per year) = 300.00 costs

*This excludes any advertising costs / Introduce a friend discount / offers currently 100 M&S vouchers / New customer offers etc

      + 100.00 M&S vouchers = 400.00

      Income

      23.50 per month for 12 months = 282.00

Effectively, Sky are losing money in the first 12 months. To the tune of 118.00 at least.

Sky would only start to make money off their customers after 12 months have passed. Or in reality an old customer, and not a new one.

If I couldn't afford it, I couldn't have it - its as simple as that!

We don't get free Sky subscriptions or any other benefits, none of the moderators or admins do. I work hard to get my wage at the end of the month, at least I should be able to choose what I wish to spend it on.
