      Re: EO Line question

This topic has been really quite in the news front for some time. This suggests to me that BTO are using some solutions.

Notably for those who are close to the exchange they have been installing Street Cabinets just outside the exchange. From there they can also install a Fibre cabinet if required too.

      Re: EO Line question

Just picked a couple of properties in Langton Road about 20 paces away from each other and checked expected broadband speed on BTs Broadband availability address checker.

      Property A:
Featured Products Downstream Line Rate(Mbps) Upstream Line Rate(Mbps) Downstream Range(Mbps) Availability Date
      WBC ADSL 2+ Up to 1.5 -- 1 to 3.5 Available

      Property B:
Featured Products Downstream Line Rate(Mbps) Upstream Line Rate(Mbps) Downstream Range(Mbps) Availability Date
      High Low High Low
      FTTC Range A (Clean) 80 67.2 20 20 -- Available
      FTTC Range B (Impacted) 78.3 48.6 20 14.6 -- Available
      WBC ADSL 2+ Up to 4 -- 3 to 7 Available

If there was ever a case for shared Wi-Fi.

      Re: EO Line question

I've noticed on my exchange that a cabinet appeared right outside - I believe this was for the purpose of EO lines.

This appears to be the accepted solution to the problem of EO lines:
      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...nly-lines.html

Usually subscribers with EO lines are close to the exchange so although they can't get fibre at least their ADSL speed is higher than average. Unfortunately this is not always the case as illustrated by the OP.

      Re: EO Line question

Yes very strange that EO in this case yields such a slow speed. A friend of mine had an EO line with ADSL2+ and had 24000bps! Which isn't that bad all things considered, but of course fibre is better if available, of course. He moved down the street from me in the end and actually ended up a few Mb slower than myself ironically, though used to get the full 80/20 before he moved.

      Re: EO Line question

If the line is very stable it could hold. Just hope you don't get a power cut.
