I've got some thumb screws, so perhaps I should arrange a trip to Scotland to make some enquiries

      Re: UFO router

As a proof of concept I built a VM on my Linux server with pfSense running on it and managed to get 1Gbit throughput in and out - so ultimately I'll be doing that. For now I am using an Atom D510 that gives a fairly respectable 450Mbit, so even with FTTP 330/30 - I think I'd be fine.

The VM had 2 cores and 2GB RAM, but runs on an i7-2600 PC so it's pretty powerful.
