I have just been told that I am on SkyTalk Unlimited.

How do I know that I am actually on SkyTalk without waiting for the first bell from Sky?

What indications are there on the phone now I am on Sky?

You could try setting up BT's Charge Advice service:

Lift handset and dial *411# and listen for message. Replace handset.

Make a short UK 01/02 call. If the exchange automatically calls you back immediately afterwards with the approx cost of the call, you're on BT. If there's no immediate call back, the call has gone over Sky Talk.

You can switch off BT Charge Advice with #411#

      Thanks for that Heinz.

I tried the number suggested and got a message that the service was not available so I suppose this means I am on Sky.

Not necessarily. It can just mean that service is not available from the BT exchange (that happens sometimes).

      ^^^^^^^^^
Not a very good way to check then, is it

Why not log in to your MySky account, click 'View my Bill on the left', then expand 'Sky Talk' on the right. If you are with Sky Talk and have made a call of any kind, it will be shown there.

      Re: Sky Talk Unlimited

      Hi,

We had the same issue, it can take a while to be switched over, BT sent a letter out confirming the switch over a few days before, and sky sent a pack out a few days after the switch over

      Re: Sky Talk Unlimited

I am a newbie around here so here goes. I have talk unlimited and use "say no to 0870" for alternative numbers. Sky claim to be 25% cheaper than BT for calls to mobiles (but that may be out of date - my OH says BT have cut charges for calls to mobiles) however does anyone know of alternative numbers to dial to access cheaper calls to mobiles. The number would have to be an 01/02/03 to be free from sky of course

I don't know of any which give free calls. Most of the cheap ones are 0844 numbers.

Thanks Felix - I am aware of Martin's website - it's excellent for most things. The alternative numbers for mobiles are 0871's and sky would charge me for that. I think I am just stuck with sky for calls to mobiles - my own mobile is a payg so no better using it. I don't make a huge number of calls to mobiles but a saving is a saving if it had been possible!
