However, as I only make international calls to some of the inclusive countries listed and never make calls to mobiles or 118 calls (or any others cme to that) from my landline, I don't think I shall miss BT (I've only been with them for six weeks or so anyway) and they can't be worse than Virgin so I'll suck it and see.

Did BT waive their breach of contract penalty charge for you then?

      Re: Sky Talk Unlimited

I'm waiting to see what happens. I realise they can charge me 70 but, for some reason BT could not explain, BT rejected Sky's request to take over my call charging (CPS is it called?) no less than five times and we just kept going round in circles. It was only then I was told that I could also pay my line rental to Sky which apparently is less complicated to set up than calls only.

I'm not too happy putting all my eggs in one basket as it were but it's no different that when I was with Virgin and it took only about 10 days to be activated.

So it will be interesting to see my next bills from BT and Sky!

      Re: Sky Talk Unlimited

Well I'm pleased to say that despite the initial hiccups I had, my Sky Talk Unlimited is up and running and is saving me a fortune. My total call costs for the past six weeks amounted to under 5 and all of those were for 0845/0870 numbers to my previous supplier (Virgin) so I am very pleased. I have to say that I did wonder initially if I had made the right decision but I speak as I find and I would recommend this service.

      Re: Sky Talk Unlimited

I am in the process of making the same jump as MoCo it seems.

2/11/07 Placed order with BT for new line with number port form Virgin Media
22/1/08 BT finally got it right - the line went in within days of order, the number port went through four separate abortive attempts.
23/1/08 Ordered Sky Talk Unlimited (CPS) - absolutely no reason why BT would be able to obstruct this as it is only using another provider for the call. No different to me prefixing with another provider of which there are dozens advertising on the net. CPS just saves me the bother of typing in the prefix. BT get their tenner a month for the line rental so they should be happy with that.

Number porting away from Virgin media is fraught with danger - if you're thinking of doing likewise make sure that you do not cancel your Virgin service or BT will not be able to port away from them. Also, check carefully that the winning supplier (Sky, Talk Talk or whoever) has a porting agreement with Virgin. Not all do, and Virgin are not at all cooperative.

Don't forget to route non-Sky 0870 calls via BT though (with a 1280 prefix) to avoid Sky's new rip-off prices for such calls - which began on 15 April.

You may wish to consider a few other things too - please see the HERE link below.

      Re: Sky Talk Unlimited

is sky considering discounted rates for a particular country? other than free international calls to 20 countries?
      OR
can sky take off the 20 international countries and give few free international calls for few countries of our won choice?
