Whether they actually bother checking I don't know but, to be on the safe side, I have simply programmed the number of my favourite Indian takeaway (which opens at 6pm) into my phone with a 1280 prefix and, as I always order more than 6 times in 3 months, that is enough chargeable calls to qualify. A couple of weeks before my quarterly bill is due, I check my 'Recent calls' online to ensure I have made the required 6 calls.

Hence, Caller Display costs me 33p per quarter (6 x 5p calls). I'm happy with that instead of 5.25!
      Hi Heinz,
I like the way you do it. Ah, ha! That means I can make only 6 or 7 calls in every 3 months, right now, my online "Recent calls" total is: 0.26 (7 x 0.038 calls) and my BT phone bill is due on 4th October 2007.

7 calls in total of 3 mins & 40 seconds. Basically, I used expired Uni Africa phone card and call it 4 times around 10pm or 11pm in the evening and the same for the expired Black phone card and call it 3 times, using the 1280 BT overide code with the 0207 numbers on the back of both phone cards, waiting for a few seconds until the operator say "enter your PIN number" for the second time, enter the PIN number, and listen whatever the operator says for the last time, then hang up the phone.

Lovely and sweet... That's means I can pay only 31.76 (31.50) for BT Option 1, Direct Debit payment, paper-free billing to qualify the "free" Caller Display (BT Privacy at Home) and BT Answer 1571 call features (46.76 with Sky Talk Unlimited) for every 3 months to instead of 36.75 (51.75 including Sky Talk Unlimited for 3 months as well). I'm very happy with it as well.

Lovely and "almost free" Caller Display....

Why call an automated number to rack up 6p.

In the evening you can call a loved one (or not a loved one !) for up to 1 hour for 6p. At least your are getting your money's worth and a chat.

Do this 6 times in the quarter and you have saved and kept the inlaws happy.

OR. Use it for 0870 numbers if you can't find them on saynoto0870.co.uk

I think Heinz mentioned they're cheaper on Bt.

Advice given is in good faith and if taken is done so at your own risk. If in doubt consult a qualified person.

Those evening or weekend UK 01/02 calls via BT now cost less - 4p including VAT now!

0845 calls are cheapest via BT weekday daytimes and 0870 calls are cheapest via BT weekday evenings as shown HERE - so they're a possible way to make your 'qualifying' calls with the 1280 prefix.
