      Call screening.

I'm hoping it's not just a coincidence! But I activated BT Call Protect on my line last week and since then I haven't had a single nuisance call.
I was just wondering if Sky are planning anything similar? because my Mum has Sky Talk and she seems to be plauged with nuisance calls, PPI and all sorts of other unwanted sales and scam calls!

      Re: Call screening.

I use a couple of these. Had them six months and they have blocked every scam caller so far. Downside is that if the person who is calling hasn't had their number passed then they do have to talk to the robot and if it's a genuine call then that could mean missed calls. You can manually add numbers and you can check the caller list to see who has called. The robot then rings me and tells me who it is and then I can pass that number if want to talk to them or the number goes to the answer machine. if the number is passed then that number goes in to the directory and numbers in the directory are always passed unless you delete them. If the caller cannot be bothered to talk to the robot, which every scammer so far hasn't, it just shuts them down. It works out of the box and it is brilliant. There are others on the market but what they are like I wouldn't know.

Sure I read somewhere that OFCOM plan to make all providers offer the callerID service for free to help with this. It's already free with Sky anyway.

I've had 3 call in the last 2 days from technicians at BT who insists I have a problem with my internet. It appears the BT employ a large number of technicians from the Indian sub continent who thinks every ones head buttons up the back. The last one told me my IP address was 192.168.1.1.

      Hello Koala5,

I've had a response to the question which I posed for you.

Essentially for the present time they're not saying if there is something in development or not. It would fall under the guise of "always looking for new ways to improve our service for our customers" If and when Sky launches such a product they'll let everyone know.

Sorry that there isn't much substance in this. It would be nice to give a lot more.

Perhaps this is something that could be beta tested prior to launch?

Be fun to see how a beta would work for ad hoc cold callers to block.
      Q. How many cold calls did you guys have this week to test and to add to the block list ?
      A. None
      Q. Ok we will wait till next week...

      Re: Call screening.

Of course some people literally get lots of unwanted calls, others might not get calls they actually need because of incorrect barring.

I have something that came with my s7 edge, it warns me if it's a spam caller... really good.
