Line down 4 weeks - do we win a prize?

Hi all, our line has been down just over 3 weeks at this point and according to Sky there won't be any update from Openreach until the 23rd?
Is this likely to be the longest outage seen here?

Funny thing is that the broadband is still working, although really really slow.

Apparently Openreach are having to dig up the road - how long does it take them?

We only got this information after making a complaint and getting through to somebody in this country rather than Bulgaria.

      Anybody had a longer outage?

      Sheeesh!

It really depends on the source of the problem.

4 weeks is a rather long time and not something that I'd be very happy with either.

Has someone offered you a free 3G dongle or something like that? I have a MiFi as a backup measure.

Problem is that Openreach don't talk to anybody, not even their own internal departments, but especially Sky.

They have to dig up the road apparently, most companies could have resurfaced about a mile of road in the time its taken them.

Sky only acknowledged trying to sort the problem after we put a complaint in. They have already said to us that they wouldn't charge us for the time the line has been down (said it as though they were offering me something and being magnanimous), also half price line rental for 3 months - woooohoooo! Grrrrrrr!

No offer of a dongle, probably wouldn't be an good anyway, we are rural and mobile signals not too good here.

      Thanks for the idea though..

With the MiFi I am using at the moment, I could plug in an external aerial and improve the signal somewhat. The aerial can be hung on a window.

I picked it up with my new tablet last summer from 3.

I would definitely have a friendly chat with someone in customer services and ask about them helping you better than they are now.
