No, they will try not to cancel you.

If they apply a cancel they lose the value of your account which affects their bonus (this was touched on by BBC Watchdog but they didn't really push far enough on this point IMO)..

If you cancel by switching to another provider they lose nothing.

      Aha i see, so 6.40 not 16.40.
Thank you for taking the time to explain bubblegun.

So what sort of discounts are they giving out for fibre pro and the phone service?

I got 6 off my SFUP and 2 off my line rental when I rang and re-negotiated the other week after receiving the email about the price increases (have the UK Anytime Talk package here). It's a 10 month discount with a new 12 month contract for both.

I don't know the exact offers but the above is a good indication.

Re: Skytalk Increases 1st December 2015

Just for fun last night, we thought we would check out the new sky pay as you talk tariff, now we are on it.

Wow, I never knew dialling was now so complicated on landline. There is now a connection charge of 16.9p and the call charge, why are they not just one charge, weird?
Then there are call types, non geographic calls 08 09, what are they? Thought looking at the starting number they could be be premium rate numbers, perhaps not.
Service numbers 084, 089, 09, 118 what on earth are these? I recognise the 118 number in there, that's that annoying advert 118 for the phone yellow pages. But these calls have 70 differing rates, nice and easy to work out, not.
Some calls round to the minute, some not, some calls charge by pence, some fixed.
Never realised it cost you to call the local police on 101, not that I have had a need to. No mention of the nhs 111 number. The speaking clock was 50p, so it is still available then.

One thing that made us laugh, is any call that comes through as anonymous you can pay 4.00 to reject it. Why not not ignore or answer it and if so tell them to go away. Many legitimate company calls will come through that way, not all spam. Sky come through as anonymous and told me they would a month or so back when they called me back.

Perhaps we are unique (but do not know anyone in our life cycle who uses/asks us for their landline number for calls) and do not use a landline anymore, or phone any of these oddball numbers.

Just glad we get plenty of free skype minutes a month through our personal, work and business accounts and can use as we want from mobile or tablet, if the need arises. Our payg mobile plans too are so generous, that they do us well when out and about and occasionally at home.

I think the complicated charges are there to make it difficult, if not impossible, to work out whether you could save anything by switching to a different provider.

      Hello All
As i have said in more then One post : These changes to the Sky Talk packages are nothing more than a Money Grab to reclaim
Some of the football excess paid early ln the year........
I fail to believe this is what sky state customer feedback wanted

      Just a Thought..........
