      1571 dual dial tone

      hi guys.

After doing some testing to make sure, it appears that when somebody leaves a message on my sky voicemail service i no longer get the dual tone to alert me to the fact.

Has anyone else noticed this or might i have a (albeit minor) problem?

I only noticed today with a new message i received today.
I think the previous message left which did produce the dual tone was around 2 weeks ago.

I have had the opposite where I couldn't get
rid of the dual tone even after deleting all the
messages! Had to ring Sky and they did a
      reset on it.

Yes, i've read a lot about that problem today.

The only recent case i've found so far like mine was on the plusnet forum, where a staff member essentially fobbed it off:
No change to dialling tone to notify me of voicemail | Community Site

Obviously it's not a big problem, or even a problem at all really.
      More an inconvenience.

I might give sky a call about it.
After all, their own website still states:
Sky Help: 1571 - Using Sky Talk Voicemail
To check if you have any voicemail messages, pick up your phone and listen to the dial tone. If you hear an intermittent dial tone, dial 1571 to access your mailbox.
Do you still get the dual dial tone notification Koala5?

Normally the voicemail will be cancelled and then added again which fixes most issues. If this does not work then if it is SVBN it will get escalated to the NOC and if it is WLR3 it will get escalated to openreach.

I managed to get sky to disable voicemail this morning but it hasn't been re-enabled yet.
The lady seemed to think it can take about 2 hours to happen, however it's been 4 hours now.

I did try adding voicemail myself in mysky but got an error.

Is there a standard time frame before the system will allow another change?

I think that there is. If I remember correctly it won't e allowed until the next day.

That's my plan for when the battery charge in my current one starts to decrease.

Something like this to help with the sales nonsense:

      Re: 1571 dual dial tone

Excellent customer service from sky yet again yay!

I received an unscheduled courtesy call from the same lady i spoke to this morning, to apologise for the delay in reinstating my voicemail service.
She recalled that it was my intention to test it this afternoon, was concerned that i'd found it wasn't working & suggested that i might like to test it tomorrow.
Already, dialling 1571 shows that the service itself is back up.

Also, although incoming calls aren't being diverted to voicemail yet, i can see in 'mysky' that things have changed because the option to add voicemail currently isn't there like it was while it was disabled.

That personal touch counts for a lot in my book.
      Well done sky.
