    No outgoing calls.

      Update

      Engineer was booked from 08.00-13.00 today, but BT engineer never arrived!!

      [Had a gas service already booked for 08.00-12.00. This changed to 08.00/10.00. Scottish gas engineer phoned at 08.30 and informed me he'd be there within 20 minutes - he was].



      Phoned Sky at 12.55 to say I'd be leaving for work at 13.05 and to clarify I couldn't hang on any longer. They were good with that. They also informed me that their system showed that BT had started working on my problem at 08.20 and it was still open!! I was asked to call back when I got home to see if the problem had been resolved - it hasn't.

      What I have done is brought back another corded phone I found at work and it has the same problems however, with this one, I am able to set it to Tone or Pulse.
      It's an old BT Viscount [trimphone?] blast from the past and I've downloaded the manual.

      If I set it to tone - no outgoing calls - set on pulse, it does make calls.
      What does that tell me?

      That you can make telephone calls for as long as you have a pulse?

      That it's not a management issue ie. your service has not been restricted.

      The MF receiver on the line card in the exchange is faulty.

      So I can confidently phone them back tonight with the tone/pulse scenario together with the MF receiver point and I may get a result?

      Came in tonight, picked up the 1st cordless phone and dialled 1571 - straight on to answer service

      Phoned Sky and tried to get an answer - initially they said the fault report was still open.
      I asked if anyone could comment on the exchange fault that a 'friend' had highlighted - they went to CS and, after a 5 minute hold,
      they came back on to say that they'd been informed that it was a fault in my area and many others were experiencing it also.

      Strange that no-one I know locally is having issues.

      That's as far as they were prepared to go.

      It's working at the moment - but will keep that MF scenario to hand.
