Hi I've been using sky talk for a while and very happy with it.

What I want to know is if you can use one of those new land line phones that you can text from with Sky talk and will the texts be free.

When I asked Sky about that, I was told to contact BT?

Fairly typical of Sky's Customer (dis)Services then (if they don't know, they pass the buck or 'accidentally' hang up on you).

I emailed Sky and got no response.
I guess the only way to find out would be to buy a phone and test it.

      smsgeezer.com

This is not directly related to the question asked. Hopefully it will be resolved as it also interests me as a Sky Talk user.
      Please keep us updated.

As I am often at my computer I use www.smsgeezer.com for texts.

You can send texts from a computer, to a mobile phone, for about 3p each. Please check the site for the latest prices. Geezer is easy to use and you can choose for replies to come back to your mobile or to your computer. The reciever recognises it's from you if they have your normal mobile number stored on their phone.

You get a free trial of 3 texts. The company is Australian......

I get 30 free texts free per month via the orange website which is more than enough for me.
But trying to convince the wife to send texts via the PC is a totally different matter
We get free phone calls but the Misses sits texting all night @ 12p a text, it drives me nuts

A woman who doesn't like to talk?
      I should be so lucky.
      12p a text sounds like a bargain.
Unless of course, she is texting....You.
