      Re: Sky Call Charges

Sky do not provide a telephone service without a calls package. Check your account to see what package you are on. If you are not paying for it then it is probably free weekend calls.
Currently with a few exceptions like directory enquiries all chargeable calls are subject to a connection fee of 13.87 pence increasing to 15 pence from 3rd December. For a detailed list of call charges please refer to Sky Talks Tariff Guides. http://www.sky.com/shop/__PDF/SkyTal...Guide_2013.pdf covers current charges and http://www.sky.com/shop/__PDF/SkyTal...3_Dec_2013.pdf covers charges following the 3rd of December changes.

Sort of what I said, then? But a bit more detailed.

OP (and other people) should be aware the tariff guide has been adjusted about 4 times in the last 6 months up to December so it's worth bookmarking the page I gave if you regularly call out of tariff numbers.

Hadn't realised you had already replied when I posted but didn't retract it as it complemented your reply. Should have refreshed my screen first.
Perhaps you could clarify whether 0845 calls of up to an hour are free at weekends on the basic package. The tariff guide is somewhat ambiguous on this point.

I wasn't criticising your post . Sorry, if it seemed that way

0845 are not included on SkyTalk Weekend package.

      Re: Sky Call Charges

Hi bubblegun and seawright, than you very much for replying to my query, and for that very useful link. I have checked and discovered I'm on the Sky Talk Weekends package.

I noticed the guide also mentions a Sky Talk Freetime package, but I'm guessing that is no longer available...

The guide states "A 15p connection fee applies to all non-inclusive UK landline, local NTS, mobile and international calls" - am I correct in assuming that even 0800 number during weekdays will have a 15 connection fee?

      Re: Sky Call Charges

Unfortunately Sky Talk Freetime is a legacy package which is no longer available to new customers. Calls to 0800 & 0808 numbers are totally free to Sky Talk customers at all times as are calls to Sky customer services on their 0844 numbers. Other 0844 numbers are of course chargeable.

Rang Sky just now and was told that the cost of calling 0871 numbers is 8.9p per miniute with a connection charge of 12p. So it is far cheaper for me to call UAE with an 0871 access number thann directly through Sky (about 79p per minute I think). just thought this info might be useful to others.

      Re: Sky Call Charges

It is always worth checking the site saynoto0870 before using such a number.

Also it is still cheaper using a Sky landline than it is to use a mobile phone, unless your mobile contract includes such numbers.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
