Forwarding Sky landline calls to mobile

      Hello

I am new to this forum. hi

I sent the following question to Sky:

Hello I understand that for £2.50 I can forward my landline calls to my mobile when I am not home. Is there any further charge to my callers or myself in the form of extra call charges from the landline to the mobile. If so, what is the cost and moreover, can I avoid same by upgrading my plan ? Thank you John

      And received the following reply:

Thank you for your email. I understand your concern with regard to Sky Talk charges.
I have checked your account and see that you are in Sky Talk Weekends package. You will be able to view all charges applicable to this package in our Tariff Guide. It contains the call charges for other Sky Talk packages too. Please be advised that there no other charges for call forwarding other than 2.50. I would like to thank you for the patience and understanding in this regard.

I hope this information has helped with your enquiry. If you require any further assistance, you can respond to my email.

      Kind regards
      Augustine

However, I have read on this forum that you do have to pay for the forwarded part of the call. Which is correct ? Also if there is a charge, would it be from my mobile provider (3) and be taken from my free minutes ?

From your mobile providers point of view, a forwarded call is just classed as a regular received call, surely?

Yes, you are quite correct. Therefore, my free mobile minutes would not be affected. As you can see, Sky state the is no extra charge per call, but I am still doubtful ????

Yes, you are quite correct, so my 3 free minutes would not be affected. As you can see, Sky have stated that they do not charge extra for each forwarded call, but I am still doubtful ???

Yes, there won't be any hidden charges on your side of things.

The only difference i can see would be on the callers side, ie: they'd phone you expecting to pay landline rates but end up paying mobile rates.

Re: Forwarding Sky landline calls to mobile

It is a bit complicated by the package you are on. If you were on an Anytime package you definitely would not pay, but on the Weekends package, you pay for calls may outside the free period. As in effect a redirect is a call, you might have to pay for the call from your landline number to your mobile if it is made outside your free period. I would hold on to the reply you received from Sky just in case you are charged as it does not mention this.

Re: Forwarding Sky landline calls to mobile

It appears i was very, very wrong earlier as the sky talk customer does indeed pay for the forwarded part of the call:
Call Diversion: The diverted part of the call is charged to the Sky Talk customer at the standard Sky Talk rate depending on the type of phone the call is diverted to, e.g. mobile. The person calling is charged for a standard UK landline call and will be charged as normal by their calls provider.
      From sky talk t/c's here:
