I'm afraid it is another case of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing.

It is definately available now with Sky Rental. It does not even say you must be on the SVBN. This is the entry on the link I posted earlier. -

If you are a Sky Talk Line Rental customer then you can benefit from some great inclusive and subscription call features.

Apologies tyw7, this was a copy and paste from the manual of your phone. Clearly the forum doesn't support some of the symbols. It would be good if you could work with us on this and confirm that you have undertaken each step outlined in pages 37-38 of your manual and what the results were.

I have tried turning the sms feature on and off. Also, I tested every BT Text SMS number under the sun.

I've tried the setting in that thread but still got Error FD, which means cannot connect to service center

The old BT phone worked, but it died.

Just to add my 2p worth here:

We used to have a Panasonic cordless phone that supported SMS text messages.

As I recall, it worked fine both incoming and outgoing when we were on BT but, after we switched to Sky, incoming txts always arrived as a voice message and outgoing txts never worked.

I think I managed to get incoming as txt eventually (can't remember how, maybe it was the 000000 register process, but never managed to get outgoing to work. I attributed the reason as being because I was unable to find out from Sky what the SMS service number should be set to.

I gave up looking (now I just use the inclusive txts in the monthly allowance of my mobile provider).

      Re: Text message on Sky

Personally I prefer people to send text messages to me on my mobile too.

If they were coming to my land-line, I would soon be annoyed with it.

I like my SMS to be in text form rather than being read out.

Me too. This is why I prefer to use my mobile and discourage people from texting me on the land-line.

My current contract has unlimited text messages (probably actually limited to 5,000 or so), so I don't pay for them unless I sent a text to a competition line.

Just for the record (and the benefit of others on Sky Talk who may wish to send & receive text messages via their landline), what are the relevant SMS service centre numbers?
