From Sky forum - I would like to thank you for your recent email to Sky; I have checked in to your recent query and currently this in not something that sky provide it may be something we introduce in the future but this is not confirmed. If you have any further questions please contact us on 08442 41 41 41 or reply to this email
This is almost word for word the message I received when I enquired about SMS sometime ago. It also worked with me on BT rental but it stopped soon after moving to Sky. This seems to have changed and SMS should be available on SVBN if you have Caller Display and Voicemail enabled, which may be my particular problem as I have Voicemail disabled.

I can't recall the specifics, but didn't someone say that it depends on which specific kit you are connected to at the telephone exchange and how?

I think that you needed to be connected to the full SVBN.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

      Re: Text message on Sky

How can I test? I had an old phone, which was making texts. But my new phone is not doing anything. I bought a non-text phone before exchanging it to a text one. That threw the SMS into voice SMS.

Have you followed the phones instructions. It suggests that you should get different errors codes when trying to text which pin points the problem.

      Re: Text message on Sky

      I'm getting Error FD.

I did follow the phone's instructions... I've called various times to Sky AND BT but they keep blaming each other for the problem.

In the past, I remember text was only enabled after Sky did something on my line.

Okay, I assume you have done

      Activating/deactivating SMS function
If you deactivate the SMS function, you can- not send or receive any SMS messages with your phone.
The settings you have made for sending and receiving SMS messages (e.g., the numbers of the SMS service centres) and the entries in the incoming and outgoing lists are saved even after deactivation.
      §Menu§ Open main menu. *#Q5#23
      Q §OK§ Or:
      §OK§
      Enter the digits.
      Deactivate the SMS function.
Activate the SMS function (default setting).

If so the. It looks like you need to get help from sky. Ask for it to be escalated to the team that supports SMS.

What's with the symbols? I'm confused. And the agent vehemently deny that they don't support SMS. >_> I'm getting two seperate replies from Sky. The guy on the forum said they do, but Sky said they don't.
