      Does sky phone occasionally dial out?

      So I joined skybb and talk two weeks ago. Over the past couple of days I've noticed that the phone line dials out a lot ... Presumably to sky. The dial tone disappears for maybe a minute or so then it's back again. Is this a routine thing? Is it sky checking optimum broadband speed on my line?

      More likely to be the Sky STB if you have multiroom I would have thought.

      Shouldn't be anything to do with the broadband side of things.

      I dont have multiroom and I've only noticed this 'dialling out' since I've added Broadband and Sky Talk (I've had Sky TV for a few years and the phone used to be on BT).

      It still dials out a lot, at least once every hour - I know this because when in the house I hear a quick 'click' on the phone ringer and if you quickly pick up the phone its engaged for a few seconds.

      Annoying to be honest.

      You have possibly got a crossed line. There is no way the box would call out so often and you can check this easily by disconnecting it from the phone line. If it continues, it is a line fault, if it stops there is a fault in the STB. For the former, you should call Sky Talk and report a fault, for the latter, call Sky TV faults and report it.

      Found the problem- it was the sky box, so I just disconnected it from the phone. Problem solved
