      0870 and 0800 numbers

      Latest pricing from Sky:

      http://www.sky.com/shop/__PDF/SkyTalkTariffGuide.pdf

In the package overview it states that Sky Talk Unlimited includes the following:

      1. UK calls are to 01, 02, 03 & 0870 numbers only are free.

      Calls to 0870 09, 0870 185, 0870 187 and 0870 188 are used to connect to the internet for dial-up Internet
Service Providers (ISPs). These are charged at the g2 rate
Max price for other 08 numbers is 10.21p per minute

So just to clarify, 0870 numbers are free all the time to those on Sky Talk Unlimited except ISP dial up numbers stated above.
0845 numbers are not free but 0800 numbers are.

Am I correct in my reading of the new tariffs?

That's right, but when did you last see an 0870 number(apart from dial up) They all changed to 0845 some time ago. 0845 calls to Sky help are free if you have Sky Talk.

      0844 surely not 0845?

That's right. I am afraid I am a bit 0845 on the brain, my last bill had over 6 charges for calls to 0845 numbers, which seem to be getting used by just about everybody now.

No wonder sky added 0870 numbers are free!!!!
Everyone just changes to 0844 numbers instead.

best to look on the saynoto0870 site.
It also covers 0844/0845 numbers and hopefully will give you the local number instead (which will be free depending on the sky talk plan).

At least 0800 numbers are free IF the company you are contacting uses it!!!

One of the reasons why I stay with BT - Unless I call Sky (or another 0844 number) or a mobile number, there are normally no call charges for us.

      Re: 0870 and 0800 numbers

Mostly my other half's fault really, I use Saynoto but she is hopeless on the internet. She used to use the 'press 3 to callback' a lot until one month I pointed out it had cost us about 1.60, just for the privilege.

      Re: 0870 and 0800 numbers

saynoto0870.com I usually find all the geographic numbers I need on there. I also have an 0800 number dialler on my iPhone which routes all 0800 numbers through an 01 number so they just come off my monthly call allowance.
