      phoneline down

hi, my phoneline is not working, i have checked my phone and it is fine, i have tried it in the test socket, no joy. my broadband is working fine, they both come through the same socket using a microfiltre (these are a pain in the bum by the way)

i have no dial tone, nothing just a background noise (i have noticed with the microfiltre there is interferance)

can you organise someone to fix it?

Have you have tried replacing the filter and telephone wire? If you did and you still don't get any dial tone ring sky on 08442 411 653.

This is an unofficial forum - no one will be able to 'officially' help you here.

Have you tried a handset directly at the test socket without any equipment like microfilters? If so, you may want to also make sure the handset is definitely fine i.e. take it to a neighbours and test it for example.

Once you've done that and can still confirm no dial tone, then it's likely a line/exchange fault. Call Sky and they'll get Openreach to have a look.

      Re: phoneline down

Before you phone Sky, can you confirm your phone rental is with them? If it is not call BT. It looks like a loose wire somewhere, either on the line too, or at the exchange. Broadband will work with one wire where a phone will not.

I assume you have tried it with another phone to confirm that it is not your phone that is faulty. If not, you should, if BTO come out and find that it was your phone that was the problem, you are liable to be charged for the call out.
