Transferring number from Virgin to Sky Talk

Right so I ordered Sky Talk Line Rental and all that baloney.
Asked for exisitng number to be ported over and it was all put in motion no problems.

Went to White Rose today and spoke to Sky retailers there and said how long would the transfer take.
Straight away he said you cant transfer it over and theres no possibility of it.

Excuse me a little but WTF.
Anyone been able to transfer successfully?

      Regards

Re: Transferring number from Virgin to Sky Talk

We've had similar discussions on this forum previously regarding LLU providers and transferring telephone numbers.

According to the Ofcom regulations you need to write to you previous telephone provider and they should allow you to transfer the number. I think it was Old_Nick who posted the link to their regulations.

Many people transferring away from Virgin have problems in keeping their telephone numbers. Apparently the same is true with Sky, TalkTalk and many more.

They insist that it can't be done, but the Ofcom regulations stipulate that all the companies should make it possible.

It seems that in practise people find that they can keep their numbers when transferring from BT to someone else, but never from the 'someone else' to whoever.

      Oh bugger.
So what happens if they say they cant transfer it? Go to Ofcom? Or am I able to cancel. If they cant transfer it my mums gonna go mental.

Re: Transferring number from Virgin to Sky Talk

My suggestion is to write to Virgin and also to Sky.

Sorry if I can't find it just now, but if you search this forum for 'Ofcom regulations' you may well find the text to quote.

Pass. Sorry. You could try new business for Sky. As for Virgin, try cancellations.

Re: Transferring number from Virgin to Sky Talk

Only problem you may have is that you order is probably currently being provisioned on a different number.

To keep your current number you might have to cancel the current order so that you can arrange for it to be ported over.

Chances are you will reach the point were to get the number ported over you might have to get a cease and re-provide.

Not a happy chappy. Now the Sky CS dont give me the option for Sky Talk?
Do they shut at a certain time?

I was a Virgin telephone customer and had no problems transferring my number.
