      new sky phoneline advance

morning peeps, i been viewing the forum for a while now thought id register and explain my problem

i moved into a new build flat last september and decided to go with sky for phone and bb this included having the phonline with sky. i was aware there was no line into the flats so was prepared to wait.
finnaly in february the work was done by openreach, i phoned sky and was giving a install date of mid march, i was pretty annoyed about this as all the bt customers in the block were switched on straight away!
any way my phoneline came on the other day, i thought great at last, i checked the number of the line and it was not the number sky are issuing me. i phoned sky and they had no idea where this number had come from.
i phoned 150 and it went through to bt! i told them i wasnt going with them and asked the guy where this number had come from and he was clueless.
2 days later the number changes again! another bt number!
i phoned sky and they said come my install date everything will be ok, i hope so i have been waiting 5 months!

has anyone heard of this before? why would this number appear and then change? will my sky line change over by my install date?

ive been waiting so long i just downt want any more delays

      thanks in advance jimmy

I am aware of a situation where someone had their phone connected early. during this time they had a different land line to the one that they now have through Sky.

Don't worry about it. You will get your Sky number from the connection date in mid-March.

Depends what department that you got through to in sky

You would need to talk to the New Line Provide team. They can check with BT. If you do want to call, I think that they can only check it Monday to Friday 9 to 5.

Might be worth a call anyway to see if you can hurry them alone since the line is up and running

Funny had a call very like this the other day but with a different activation date.

      Re: new sky phoneline advance

hi guys, thanks for the replys, activation went ahead all ok, got my sky number now.
but trying to upgrade my talk package with sky and there saying that the order is still pending.
i have my line an number but it hasnt updated skys systems, its been 48 hours now.
does any one know how long it usually takes for sky to get confirmation the line is active.
i suspect this is probably delaying my bb order now
      thanks jimmy

      Re: new sky phoneline advance

Glad to hear that things went well.

As for updating your Sky account, I can't recall how long it took for mine to be updated, so I can't offer specific info to your question I'm afraid.

Just keep checking over the few couple of days as I think officially BTO are supposed to have the line 'under test' for a few days.

I am guessing that you are going to add the 5 per month for free 01, 02 & 03 calls during the day. Certainly this helps with managing the bills.

thanks scubbie. i hope that is the case with bto, that again does put my mind at ease.

you are correct in saying i want to pay the 5 month extra for the calls, ive got a 11 month old boy so theres lots of calls with doctors etc, so im bound to save.

      you certainly no your stuff!

      thanks jimmy

I don't know everything, trust me. I just try to respond where I can offer something positive.

Also consider installing Skype & convincing your relatives the same. Very useful for voice only or voice & video calls with those relatives who are demanding to see the latest pics.

The calls are free when calling from PC to PC, for example. There is no time limit and they can be good fun too.
