    1571 Permanently Engaged

This is a discussion on 1571 Permanently Engaged within the Sky Talk forums, part of the Other Sky help and support category; I can't retrieve my voicemails. Is it just me or is it a general fault....

      Re: 1571 Permanently Engaged

I am not getting an engaged tone with 1571 - instead I just get a "number not recognised" message.

I know I've got at least one voicemail as I've got the alternating dial tone.

I've got the alternating tone. I get nothing for about 15 seconds when i dial, then the engaged tone.

Alright, well both your exchanges seem fine according to:

      Sky Service Status - Home

However, it's not to say that there's no issue at your exchange that isn't logged on Sky's fault webpage above. First and foremost - what I would suggest, assuming you're using DECT handsets, is unplugging your phone handset from the telephone socket and also from the electrical supply for a minute. Then plug it back in and ring 1571 again.

Unfortunately still not working - just spoke to the helpdesk who can find no obvious reason for it to not be working so have filed a request for the fault to be investigated.

      Re: 1571 Permanently Engaged

      Didn't work for me either.

Interestingly when I try to leave a message (using my mobile) I get silence followed by "you have dialled an invalid code"

      Re: 1571 Permanently Engaged

Just spoke to Sky. After 10 minutes I was told that it is a known fault and will take up to 72 hours to rectify.

Why don't their operators know, straight away, about known faults? He had to ask 3 different people before finding out, all whilst I'm paying a semi-premium rate for the call.

      A poor show really.
