Switching from Sky to 02 45 line charge?

      I have sky line rental and unlimited 11 & 5 a month.
When i contacted 02 to switch to their phone service i was told sky do something to the line, so no one else can use it and as result 02 have to do some work on the line which cost 45?
02 told me to go back to BT then switch to 02 only problem is it is a 12 month contract. Does BT give you 30 days to cancellation period?
Is there another way of getting round this?

No, you must be on the Sky SVBN system which means you no longer have a BT line, O2 need one to put their ADSL on so you will have to pay if they cannot offer you a deal.

You may even loose your phone number and also face a downtime of 10-20 days.

Just out of interest, why are you leaving Sky BB? as long as your on the LLU equipment there are not many better and not unlimited either.
