      Call barring.

      Hello.

I have only Sky talk freetime.
For the last month or so i have been getting phone calls from big firms trying to sell me stuff at all times of the day which as i work nights is a big problem.
I want to get call barring set up on my phone line but when i go to do this through my Sky account it says that i have to take out Sky line rental to get this feature.I have line rental with BT.
Has anybody got an idea of how i can get this feature as i use 1899 for my paid for calls and Sky for the free calls.

Because you pay your line rental to BT, I think you will have to subscribe to BT's call barring feature. Call 150 and speak to BT's customer service people.

I think you'll find it'll be cheaper to buy a device such as TrueCall instead of shelling out money each month for the barring features.

      Re: Call barring.

I went to order "choose to refuse" from BT this morning at we i went to click confirm right at the bottom of the page it said by choosing this feature you agree to bring back your calls to BT.
As i have sky freetime will that mean that all my call will go back to BT like they were before and then will i have to pay extra for sky broadband as i get a 5 discount for having sky freetime.
I didn't get the choose to refuse as i wanted to make sure what was going on.

      Re: Call barring.

what you can do is either go to TPS Registration and register your number. this stops companies calling you and is a free service. what this site does is removes your number from any entry that is distrubuted to cold sales companies. ths will probably take you awhile but it will do it. Or what you can do is when you answer the call advise that they are breaching the data protection act and that you will take action if they do not stop contacting you. other than that i would advise that you check your terms and conditions on the sky website as there is ALOT of good information that will help you.

      Re: Call barring.

I usually ignore any calls that come up as WITHHELD or INTERNATIONAL on caller ID. These callers seldom leave a message so they can't be all that important, but I'll concede that it's still a nuisance to be disturbed by them.

There seems to be an increasing number of unscrupulous organisations who ignore TPS regulations...

      Re: Call barring.

      Hello.

I am registered with the TPS and still get these phone calls.
When they call i tell them that they are against the data protection act and to stop calling but doesn't work and they still call.
I don't have caller ID as i was told by Sky that to get this i need to get my line rental from them and in my earlier post i said that to "privacy at home" with BT you have to make 2 chargeable calls a month to get it free or pay 2.50 a month if you do and as i can't make any calls through BT it will cost me money.
