If you are certain this noise is on the line and not coming from your side of the master socket, phone Sky and ask them to escalate it and have an LL5 engineer sent out. An LL5 will work on the problem until it is solved and not b off after the 2 hours maximum an LL1 engineer is allowed. They are very expensive so that is why I say be very certain the fault is not on your side before you ask them.

If it's a broadband fault, then an LL5 would be assigned, but if this is essentially just a phone fault (PSTN) then sky would need to send out an LL12 I believe (audible noise after 28 days of the line being active). I would assume this is what has been done, but albeit very, very odd that sky have literally said it can't be fixed. Can you give a bit more detail as to the whole conversation and scenario, as it's hard to advise when the information provided is so vague.

Well if you paid bt for line rental and was smpf instead of the fmpf(Full llu ) that i presume that your are on you could of reported it to bt, and got a voice engineer to fix what seems is a voice fault,if the openreach engineers haven't fixed this as yet then it could be down to sky, maybe a lift &shift is needed at the exchange, ?

      At the Original Poster -

Are you WLR (Wholesale Line Rental - smpf as mentioned) or SVBN (Sky Voice & Broadband Network - mpf)? If you're not sure, what dept. do you usually get passed to?

It's hard advising on ongoing issues like this without literally having the case infront of you, but if this is an ongoing intermittent fault then an ETS1 needs booked.

That's when they run out of ideas and give the DSLAM a thump with a big hammer.
