Cheap 0845/0870 and local calls on sky talk

      Hi there

just checking my sky talk bill, it seems that for all 0845 and 0870 (wether daytime or evening) and local calls (during the day mon-fri) i get charged a flat charge of 7p no matter how long I speak. Calls to mobiles and 0844/0871 numbers get charged the connection fee and pence per minute charges as you would expect but not the local and 0845/0870 numbers.

From my bill: date - time of day - number - duration - total cost

      15/05/2010 16:54:51 08456017074 (Bt Lo-Call) 00:04:58 Calls to NGN numbers (e.g. starting 08 or 09) 0.070
      11/05/2010 11:33:20 08456004005 (Bt Lo-Call) 00:02:25 Calls to NGN numbers (e.g. starting 08 or 09) 0.070
      02/06/2010 15:54:59 08454370691 (Opal Telecom Ltd) 00:06:40 Calls to NGN numbers (e.g. starting 08 or 09) 0.070
      07/05/2010 17:41:32 08708902842 (Telstra Europe Ltd) 00:06:58 Calls to NGN numbers (e.g. starting 08 or 09) 0.070
      19/04/2010 10:18:37 02088836079 (London) 00:00:47 Local Calls 0.070
      19/04/2010 16:17:42 02033284000 (London) 00:02:33 Local Calls 0.070
      03/05/2010 14:32:08 08442009898 (Connect Telecom UK Ltd) 00:17:14 Calls to NGN numbers (e.g. starting 08 or 09) 0.160

Does anyone know why this might be or if I am missing something? I was under the impression non geographic numbers and local numbers are charged a connection fee of 7p (now 9p) and a pence per minute rate of 5-6p. (Have included an 0844 0.5p per minute call at the bottom to show those are being charged properly.)

      thanks

With sky talk you only get 0870 numbers free within your call package, you will be charged for all other calls except 01 02 and 03 landline numbers / or calls to sky, again within your call package timing

Re: Cheap 0845/0870 and local calls on sky talk

thanks but that doesnt really answer the question.

Also 0870 calls are not free during the day - they are billed as local calls i think now.

Anyways i am being charged a 7p one of fee and no pence per minute charges for 0845/0870 and local calls during the day mon-fri which is not what you would expect. I am on the free sky talk freetime, not the 5pm sky talk anytime calls package.

Agree it doesn't sound right from what you've stated so maybe a billing error?

All the current call prices are listed here:

can i assume that others on here have previously checked their bills and know for sure they get charged pence per minute rates for non geo and local numbers?

Can't speak for everyone but I just checked my latest bill and I was charged as per tariff for a short call to a non-geographical number on 10 May.
