      Outgoing Calls Problem

      Hello

Okay so just lately, last 30 minutes. Whenever my household makes an outgoing call, we seem to not exactly get through to the person we are calling.

What happens is we dial their number, a landline. Their phone rings, they pick up. As they pick up they of course say hello, and i go hello. But it appears they cannot hear us. BUT they can hear another PERSON talking?!? Who is very confused.

So let me get that straight...i call you on your landline.
you pick up, but you cannot hear my voice.
instead you hear another persons voice, saying "hello who is this?".

Its nothing to do with our handsets as we are fine with incoming calls (people calling us.) and it does not seem to affect calling mobile numbers either.

Seriously, what has Sky done now. As im guessing its them who've done this.

      Anyone got any ideas?

      Hi,

I am having the exactly the same problems tonight.
Also when I answer an incoming call, although We can hear each other fine there is alot of interference on the line.

Sometimes when people try to call us they are getting the engaged tone even though we are not on the phone

      Broadband if working fine

I am in the process of checking the wiring in the house at the moment

Yeah, well we've done a test with my neighbour.

Everytime we call out. my neighbour gets a random SkyTalk customer from ANYWHERE in the country. We've had people asking for 'janet', people ordering 'pizzas', just background noise.

Although im no telecommunications engineer, im pretty sure they've fluffed up with the switchboard.

I have just filled in the online form to report a fault, although i am not sure if will do any good as they replied by email telling me to follow an online trouble shooting guide and then to phone them if it still doesn't work !!

      Re: Outgoing Calls Problem

Aah definetly rules out regional problems

Well we've called technical support who said there was a 10 minute wait?!?

Anyways, thanks for your co-operation, i guess we can do no more.

Just wish more people knew what was happening, definetly feel for those who are not well or elderly and wouldnt really understand whats happening.

Anyways, lets see what happens tomorrow!

      Re: Outgoing Calls Problem

I'm having exactly this problem this morning, and we're in South Wales.
      Anyone got any more ideas?

Just got off the phone with Sky, it's a national problem and something has gone horribly wrong at the BT exchanges apparently :-)
