Have Sky changed the T&C for new customers putting them straight on the Sky system and therefore with no option but to pay Sky line rental (so can't hop back to BT for calls)?

      Some info here:
      http://www.sky.com/shop/terms-condit.../tariff-guide/

      In particular:
      "Indirect Access Calls
From 1 July Sky Talk Customers on the Sky Voice and Broadband Network will no longer be able to make calls using a prefix number to access a different telephony provider (known as Indirect Access Calls). "

I'm not sure about the answer to your 1st question, but I think the answer to your 2nd question is probably "No".

I think you can still have either call package from Sky and pay line rental to BT, but if you switch the line rental to Sky I think your line will come off the BT network and go onto the Sky Voice & Broadband network.

If you keep your BT line 1280 won't work with Sky Talk but other indirect numbers should.
