      Not impressed - problems

We moved to Sky Talk and Sky Broadband last week, having been a BT customer for around 10 years with not a single problem that I can remember.

The first day we were on Sky Talk, some people were phoning our landline, and it was ringing at their end, but not ours.

Today, our phone number has been engaged for several hours, despite not being on the phone, and no phones being "off the hook".

Callers are now also complaining about crackling noise; something that wasn't there before.

I have spoken with Sky, who weren't particularly helpful to be honest. A line test revealed nothing (surprise surprise). They said possibly it's a faulty router. As the problems are intermittent, it's not going to be easy to prove.

I'm now wondering if moving to Sky Talk was the right move.

Remove all but a phone from the line and see if it still happens, could be many things causing it.

Why only since moving to Sky Talk though? All equipment is the same, other than the router.

It is probably not your end but you have to be in a position to prove to sky its their issue so that they have to fix it. If the problem only occurs when the router is on the line then either the filter is no good or the router is faulty. That one is simple to sort. If it still happens with nothing but a phone on the line then Sky talk need to sort the issue out as it is likely to be their equipment at the exchange and you will need an engineer.
