      Caller ID now not working

Since switching to Sky, my caller ID that used to work fine, no longer works. I've called them twice and after they've ripped you off for as much as they can on the phone call, they've done nothing. I've tried the Star, Hash 234 thingy and that doesn't work. Looks like back to bloody BT for me.

Phone calls to Sky support are free at all times if you have the Unlimited Talk plan and during the 'freetime' period if you only have the Free Talk.

It can take a few days for the Caller ID function to become operative.

Try using a different microfilter. This cured the problem when I had it.

Was a BT fault for me - they 'forgot' to turn it on - Sky were helpful and it was up and running within a few days - give em a call again.

I had a similar problem. They had me try the test socket and I went through the motions to keep them happy but that didn't help. I'd advise you try it anyway.

What really did fix mine was having sky turn Caller ID off and on again.

      Three things here:
      1. Calls to Sky CS on their 0844 numbers went back to being free at all times from 1st March (Tariff Guide(PDF) - bottom of p.2). You can also call 150 or 151 from a Sky line.

      2. If you go back to BT and keep SkyTalk for the broadband discount BT will charge you 2.70 a month for caller ID because you can't make outgoing calls on their network with SkyTalk.

      3. If you go back to BT and cancel SkyTalk you will lose your 5 a month broadband discount.

If I were you I would be patient and get them to turn off the service then put it back on. It's possible that something didn't clear properly on transferring your old BT line.

If you're on Sky Talk, dial 150 to call for free at any time.

Re: Caller ID now not working

When you call sky you will be asked to try the test socket

      Try another phone.

Remove the batteries from the handet for 20seconds(if cordless)

remove the mains unit from the power.

If that doesn't work it will get escalated to CST and the on to NOC

NOC deals specifically with calling features

The above advice is only if you are an SVBN customer otherwise it will need logged of to BT.

Concerned about Bt charge of 2.70 per month to use Caller ID if you use Skytalk Anytime.I am with BT Rental & Bt Calls. My yearly contract with BT CALLS anytime comes to a halt in 3 weeks time and I was going to switch to Skytalk Anytime to save 5 per month on my Sky broadband. I was with Skytalk 3 years ago and you then had to make `2` calls on the Bt network per month, to be able to use Caller Id for Free, doesn`t this apply now ??

Yes, that condition still applies. What has changed is the way BT supply the SkyTalk service, meaning that dialling 1280 has no effect, so it is imposslble to make calls over the BT network even if you have a BT line.
