Dead phone line - number still active

Hi, basically my parents phone line and broadband went off over the weekend but when you dial their number a man answers the phone claiming that its his number, gets angry (probably because other members of my family have been trying to contact my parents) and then hangs up! My parents have had the same number for over 20 years, and have always paid the bill on time.

They have contacted sky by phone but were kept on hold for over half an hour, so hung up, so they have emailled them instead, but havent had a reply yet

I just wondered if anyone had any idea what the problem could be.

      Thanks for reading

Re: Dead phone line - number still active

      Hi

I recently came home from work to find our Sky Line Dead.

Mine was not connecting to anyone else - just no dial tone and "out of service".

      Solution...

I phoned sky at least 5 times over a 7 day period (had no luck with email) and on one occassion was on hold for 90 minutes. It took them a week to solve my problem when it only actually took the guy who solved it 2 minutes to identify & fix the fault.

In short...Sky have procedures that take time (e.g. log the fault, 48 hours before it is looked at etc...) so you must persist, take names and make a note of everthing you are told.
