2 questions about sky free calls and BT

      Hi all,
1st - I called skyplayer support this morning and used my mobile since I don't want to be charged for the call, I do get free calls on 0844...on my mobile contract. The lady on the other end obviously doesn't know that and told me that I was being billed for the call, why wasn't I using the home phone, as it would be FOC? I asked her that I know that 150 calls were free but calls to sky using 0844 or 0870 , would these also be free? She said yes. I have great doubts about this and don't want to start calling them on these numbers specially when one has to wait 15 minutes or more to start talking to them. Does any1 know for sure if what I was told is true? Not only 150 but all phone numbers leading to their call centre are free?

2nd - on another subject, as I have seen more than once people leaving sky to go back to BT... How easy is it? What I mean is, I have phone, broadband and telly with sky. At the beginning I thought that going from BT to sky (paying line rental to sky) would be too risky, I would lose my freedom and flexibility, I did it in the end because it was an overhaul cheaper system. should I get fed up with them and wanting to pay line rental to BT again, would that be a big problem?
I would lose my broadband or at least pay much more than I'm paying now?! But then I guess I could use some other ISP that offers similar sky prices?!
I'm confused and would like someone to explain if possible, so that I can lose that feeling that I'm stuck with these people forever.

      many thanks

Calls to Sky are free if you have Sky Talk. (I also think that 0870 calls are free now)

If you are on the new Sky SVBN network then changing suppliers can/will be time consuming and costly. You will need to pay BT for a new line (unless they do you a deal) and you will be without broadband for upto 20 days.

thanks, yes I'm on that level hooked with them through their phone line. I was told that the link is going to be even tighter from the 17th, since my exchange is being altered so that sky customers are then 100% linked through their wires, even though this is hard to believe as I didn't see sky digging up holes on my street to put their cables up to my doorstep.

Just because you have their phone line rental does not mean you are already on the SVBN network. You can opt out of this and it sounds like you are due to be put on it so now is a good time to opt out.

Give them a ring and see what they say. There was a link on the website to do this also.

even if you do go to BT it wont mean giving up sky broadband but unless you keep sky for your telephone calls 5 will be added to the cost
u se BT for calls and line rental at present i pay 10 for sky max, but from january it will rise to 15 unless i take skytalk may take the free evening and weekend package but stay with BT for rental

Also don't forget it is only free to call sky during your free minutes. ie if on evenings and weekends its only free after 6 or at weekends.

oh, that's quite interesting! She didn't tell me that.
But then again why don't they include all services in the 150? This one is free at any time, I think so.
