      Curious Query re Sky Talk.

I received my usual monthly Sky statement which covers Sky Connect / TV Packages / and Sky Talk.

This normally runs at around 70-80 per month and includes "Up to 8Mb" for Sky Connect, documentary channels and second room for Sky TV, plus line rental and call charges for Sky Talk.

Apart from the internet bandwidth throttling after 17:30, I'm quite happy with it.

However this month the statement included a Sky Talk Line rental refund for cancellation.

Given that I have not cancelled Sky Talk, I decided to give Sky a call to investigate.

The call centre operator informed me that a 3rd party had taken over the line rental.

When I queried this the operator told me that I must have contacted another supplier which I have not.

After delving deeper to ask who I was now paying line rental too, the operator told me that under OFCOM regulations they could not divulge this information.

They then advised me to contact BT Wholesale as they own the line and SKY merely pays them for the line rental.

I contacted BT Wholesale and they advised that they had never heard of this situation before and subsequently referred me back to SKY.

Has anyone ever experienced this before.

That's a bit rich. Did you ask him/her to quote you the regulation which bars this. This happened a lot when TalkTalk first started due to people not understanding that to get their broadband they had to also take the line rental, but this is obviously not what has happened in your case. I have been plagued with calls from BT trying to get me to change my calls back to them. Sometimes I have had to be quite rude to get them off the line.

Have a look at this article which discusses 'slamming'-
Thousands hit by cold callers who change your phone service without you knowing| News | This is London

It is amazing that any company armed with your phone number and address can take your line over so easily.
