      Sky Voice Mail

Does anybody else have Sky Voice Mail?

I have never requested it nor do I want it.

I have an answering machine at home which people can leave messages on if they wish.

What frustrates me is that I do not know if anybody has left a message for me on Sky Voice Mail unless I dial 1571 to retrieve them.

I have contacted Sky and they have stated that I do not have Sky Voice Mail on my account!!!!

Is there anything I can do to get rid of it or to disable it as I do not want it?

      Thanks

      Re: Sky Voice Mail

You can tell if a message has been left by the dial tone. If tone pulses, rather than a normal continous tone then you have mail.

If Sky say you don't have it active then it is disabled.

If you want to prove it for yourself then turn off your answering machine and call your number.

I do definitely have it on my line but Sky say it isn't showing on my account!!

Is there any way I can disable it by typing in a number or something?

I omitted to say about the pulsed tone. But then again I will only know if a message has been left when I pick up the phone where as my answering machine will flash and give an audible beep

i don't know if this will help but i have the sky voice mail
and a answer phone to be honest all i did was make the answer phone come in before the voice mail...it don't matter weather it live you don't pay for it its free with sky phone line rental.

if you ain't got sky line rental you ain't got the voice mail.

It is most certainly not free to callers who get caught by the damned thing when you are on the phone.

      Switch it off!

Switching off the BT version is easy. Surely Sky could manage a simple online opt-out/switch off procedure like that?

My Sky Voicemail is answered within 2 rings. I can get my answering machine to answer within 1 ring but I won't have time to get to the phone before hand to answer it anyway.

I can't understand how Sky say their records show I don't have it. I do have it and I don't want it.

      Re: Sky Voice Mail

I had previously had voice mail disabled. They've just upgraded my line to their new system (allegedly getting 19.3mbps download speed) and seem to have reactivated the bloody thing. Had to give up after 25 minutes on hold on the phone, will try to get them to remove it again at a less busier time!

Tried again around 9pm, and got through within a couple of minutes. They promised to remove the 1571 service but said it may take up to 72 hours; so nobody phone me for the next 3 days or it'll cost you!
