      Text Messages on Sky Talk?

We have just moved over to Sky Talk line rental.

Is it still possible to receive SMS messages on our text enabled landline phone?

Now, the phone rings and the message is delivered by voice rather than a text as with BT.

      Any way around this ?

Re: Text Messages on Sky Talk?

      Hi dgilbert2,

I have exactly the same problem. Been with Skytalk a month or so and have lost the ability to send SMS and recieve them as voice-texts (which are fairly annoying). Strangely enough I'm on the same exchange as you, so perhaps it is a local problem.

Sky have been useless on this one so far. I've phoned them about 4 times and am normally first told that you can't use SMS on sky. Then I mention that it says they cost 10p each on their own website and they put you on hold for a while and come back with some advice that doesn't work.

Any advice you have would be welcomely recieved!

      Z

If you can send them, try this:

Send a message which reads "reset" to 00000.

This may reset your line to recieve text-SMS's.

Yes, good point! The voice ones stop coming at 11:00pm I believe but resume at 8:00am.

If you have a spare moment could you have a look in your phone settings and tell me what number it says for the "service centre" (the sending one). I've messed around with mine so much that I have no idea what it was when it was working

Trying it now. I think the numbers vary by phone (brand). Mine is a Siemens one. Which make is yours?

Also, did you keep your line rental with BT or switch to Sky?

Re: Text Messages on Sky Talk?

i was told by a customer services person on skys customer help line that if you have no sky line rental (and you have it with bt for example) your text messages will be routed through the company who provides your line rental. So if you're with bt you get free texts up to 100 a month. They also said to me that services bt provide such as caller display will still be provided by bt as the line rental is theirs as i asked about taking up skys caller display.

Z, our line rental was moved over to Sky. The phone is BT branded so dont know who makes it.

      Any success yet?
