      No, no joy yet! Thanks for the info anyway. Sounds like our situations are the same. I just don't understand it.

      I will have to see if I can borrow another phone and see if that one works. Having said that I'm fairly convinced it is something on my line settings rather than my phone as all was working fine before I switched.

      Any advice welcomely received..

      The send centre number of 1470P1709400 works for me; its the one listed in my new BT phone's user guide, although sky get my line rental.
      The text went through to my virgin mobile fine. Unfortunately I couldn't test the receive centre as my virgin mobile insisted on translating the reply text and sending a voice message!
      The receive centre number listed in my user guide is 080058752
      And yes it took 10 minutes listening to adverts on the sky helpline before the 'help' advised me to try the BT settings, though he didn't know what they were.

      I know it's on old post but i found it when trying to find the same information out the post starter was looking for.

      See the Sky user info pdf here pg7 in the small print at the bottom.

      In case the link dies, extract reads:

      "Please note the Text feature is not available to customers whose Sky Broadband, Sky Talk Line Rental and Calls services are provided over
      Sky’s own Voice and Broadband network."

      Oh well..
