BT line rental is going up - will Sky follow?

I have received the letter telling me that BT are going to put up the cost of line rental to 12.50 per month (paper bills) and 11.25 per month (paperless bills).

I'm aware that Sky are currently charging 10 per month for line rental - are they likely to follow BT's price increases and increase their charges?

Also, if I do decide to switch to Sky for line rental - how easy would it be to go back to BT if I chose to?

Well I assume Sky will tie you in for a 12 month contract.

To be honest I would not move my line rental away from BT as if you have a line problem you can at least speak to BT.

Move to Sky and if you have a problem you have to report it to Sky who then get BT to have a look.

Although my line rental went up they dropped my call package by the amount of the increase if I signed up for a new 12 month contract to BT.

Have a read of the document here. Looks like Sky won't be putting line rental up.
