Sky TV, phone and broadband without a phone socket?

I am moving into a new flat shortly and I am due to have Sky TV, Talk and Broadband installed. I have just found out from the landlord that although there is a phone line to the building there are no actual phone sockets in the flat.

Is this a problem, can the Sky engineer install a phone socket and is there normally an additional charge for this.

      Many thanks for your help

You will need an operational phone line before the Sky TV installation takes place. The cost will vary depending upon the current status of the flats phone line. It might be viewed as a completely new installation. You should talk to Sky about this as they obviously can't install Sky TV, Sky Talk and Sky Broadband unless you have an active phone line.

I was faced with a not dis-similar situation about 18 months ago and the phone line cost me well over 100 for installation (sorry can't remember the exact cost). Since that time Sky have begun to offer Line Rental and may for all I know also offer installation but in my day I had to get BT to install the line and take out a minimum 12 month contract with them. So talk to Sky and if they can't arrange for the telephone line to be re-installed/activated then you will need to call BT.

Re: Sky TV, phone and broadband without a phone socket?

I have just bumped into a Sky Saleswoman in the local shopping precinct so asked her advice.....apparently Sky will install the phone sockets at no extra charge as I am getting Sky TV, Broadband and Talk with them. I then pay them 10 a month line rental which is cheaper than BT
