How do i know i've switched to Sky Talk

I've recently agreed to switch over to sky talk freetime.

i've had a letter saying the switch over date in 18th December. This may sound a silly question, but is there any way of telling i have actually switched to sky talk.

      Thanks in advance

You can go to my sky go in to your account and in your account it will tell you when it was activated. When you go into your account you will see bb and talk, Click on talk there`s your info. Failing that ring sky talk and ask.

Youy may be able to set up BT Charge Advice. If you can, your line is still with BT.

Lift handset and dial *411# and listen for message. Replace handset.

Make a call which is chargeable (e.g. to an 0845 number) UK 01/02 call. If the exchange automatically calls you back immediately afterwards with the approx cost of the call, you're on BT. If there's no immediate call back, the call has gone over Sky Talk.

You can switch off BT Charge Advice with #411#

Dial 150 and if you hear someone say welcome to sky, then it`s been activated, if welcome to BT then it hasn`t, mine was activated a day late..

I think this only applies if you have Sky Rental. I have Sky Talk Anytime and 150 takes me to BT.

Re: How do i know i've switched to Sky Talk

Another method if you have line rental from Sky: dial 1571 from the line in question. You will hear "Welcome to Call Minder" or "... BT Call Minder". I'll leave you to work out which one indicates that you are on Sky!

Incidentally, I recently switched to Sky Talk with line rental, and all went smoothly without any technical problems. However, it was frustrating that it was not possible to select any of the options, e.g. Caller Display, when ordering via the web. (The web page says, "Call 08442 410 499 for more information on how to set up the extra features".)

When I subsequently phoned to order the options, the order was accepted but nothing happened because I ordered before the line had been activated and the person who took the order forgot to "put it in the diary". Apparently the work could not be scheduled until after the service had been activated. (The Sky systems for Talk seem rather under-developed.) There was no information at all under My Sky > Orders - strange since my order included an extra-cost option. It took a second phone call to get the work scheduled, after which all was working fine next morning. Overall there was a gap on 6 days before I had the full service I had ordered, although no gap for calls.

Re: How do i know i've switched to Sky Talk

I wish I knew this at the time. In the "My Sky" area, it said that the Sky Talk service was activated, so we used the free phonecalls we thought we had. A week or so later a letter came from BT saying that we would be switched over on x date, and we had a expensive BT bill to pay because of it. I wish you were told this things when you switch to sky.

Not sure about the 1571, but caller display is tied to the rental, if your rental is with BT you have to call them and pay extra for it. I believe it is free with Sky Rental, you have to phone them to have it activated.
